Past Boats

I might not own them anymore, but I still think about them...

I have had AMAZING luck with buying and selling boats... dare I say some of the best. I've found 3 beautiful sail boats at the right place and time, and sold them off in better condition than I found them — right when I needed to and for fair prices, always to happy sailors.

MOMENTUM, 1970 Irwin 32 Classic:

I had this boat for 6 very successful cruising seasons before I sold it to step up to the C38.  I sold it to a friend in my boat yard... you know that feeling when you see an old girlfriend with another guy, yea that about describes it. Even if you're new gal is sexier and younger, it still stings to see yer old gal with a new beau.

This boat performed exceptionally well as a Bay weekender / day-sailer. Did well in light air and and did even better in 15 - 20kts. She regularly gave larger, more modern boats a run for their money! Pointed great thanks to 7'10" draft with the board down... and slides in the gunkholes with 3'6" draft with the board up.... plus it has 6'4" of headroom!

I learned how to sail bigger boats on this boat, and still miss it. I always said if I won the lottery I'd fully restore it.

Momentum is a wonderful boat and has hosted many successful weekend cruises to and from some of the nicest places on the bay, not to mention many day and after-work outings in all conditions! She is currently located on Jones Creek in Baltimore.

WATERMARK, 1973 Annapolis 26:

My first sailboat. Had an old single cylinder Lister-Petter diesel engine in it, that I sold and replaced with an outboard. BEST thing I ever did to that boat. This was basically a Rainbow 26 that was used by the Annapolis sailing school in the ’70s. They added a house to it and called it an Annapolis 26.  I believe that's what it was anyway. I had it for a few seasons and ended up selling it to a guy in Annapolis (I believe he was in the Merchant Marines, very salty guy... on the day we test sailed it we lost the end of the jib halyard up the mast... he just popped off his hoes, climbed the mast like a money ((while underway)) and retrieved the halyard.) Had a lot of fun on that boat.
