Oct 29-30: Huricane Sandy

Hurricane Sandy hit Baltimore on Oct 29th, 2012. With 50kont winds, 6" of rain and high tides.  My household barometer bottomed out at 950mb at 8pm. Indicating a drop of 55mb in 12 hours that day. Neighbor's house was crushed by a large tree, and the rest of the day/night was spent in the basement.

Stripped boat on Saturday am. Doubled dock lines, replaced bilge float switch. So far so good, although even low tide at Young's Boatyard prevented me from getting to her. Rope bumpers became heavy w/rain and sank too low to be useful. Remember that for next time. Canceled appointment to fix rigging support tie-wire w/Walden Rigging this am. Rain check. Storm not over. Holding just north west of Maryland with winds switching to South. This evening's high tide will be a big one with wind and water working together.

Fall Boat Show Improvements

Boat show fun:

Purchased a UPack from Ulman Sails in Easton, MD on a Boat show discount. Met them in Fells Point Baltimore a took measurements... after a great weekend of sailing and party'n. Stayed at Hendersons Wharf. Winning Drive (owned by Balt Ravens owner) passed us in Baltimore.

Replaced the old head with a brand new Raritan PHII marine toilet. btw... bolts don't match existing pattern. had to re-drill. Got it at the annap boat show for $200. USA made. No More Stink!
